Quality & Safety Print Page

Quality is a top priority at Concord Hospital. We recognize and value the important role it plays in providing cost-effective services and improving patient safety. We are publishing hospital quality data online as part of our effort to provide the community with meaningful, relevant and easily accessible information about the quality we offer.

On our Web site you will find data representing quality measures and satisfaction measures. The quality indicators are those identified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as the basis for reporting and measuring the quality of hospital care. Having undergone extensive validity and reliability testing, the indicators relate to three serious medical conditions (heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia) that are common among Medicare patients and often result in hospitalization. They are endorsed by the National Quality Forum, a voluntary standard-setting, consensus-building organization representing providers, consumers, purchasers and researchers.

The patient satisfaction measures, overall satisfaction and likelihood of recommending Concord Hospital to others, are a subset of satisfaction data collected and administered through an independent provider of satisfaction surveys and other satisfaction measurement tools. The surveys, which are mailed to patients’ homes, ask patients to rate various aspects of their hospital stay on a scale of very good (100) to poor (0). The hospital uses this data to assess and improve the quality of service it provides.

In addition to the quality measures, there is simple advice on how patients can take part in their healthcare decisions to achieve better outcomes, as well as links to hospital quality and patient safety Web sites.
