Nationally Recognized for Medical Success in Using CPOE Concord Hospital was awarded for its healthcare achievements during McKesson's Corporation's first-ever "Celebrating CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) Success," national competition in Orlando, Fla. Concord Hospital is the first hospital in New Hampshire to use this advanced technology tool that improves patient safety by allowing healthcare providers to enter clinical orders directly into a computer. All hospitals eligible for a McKesson award were required to submit data demonstrating how CPOE is improving medical care for its patients. CPOE helped Concord Hospital healthcare providers better identify patients at high-risk of pulmonary embolism, believed to be the leading cause of preventable death in hospitalized patients in the United States, according to a recent survey by the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Stewarding Technology and Cultivating Progress

Applying the newest medical science and technology is essential to local community care and regional healthcare excellence. Improving medical science for our patients is a constant metric of our operations.

In 2007, a computerized provider order entry system (CPOE), with decision support was implemented helping eliminate handwritten orders, the most common source of hospital errors.
